1What it is
The most widely accepted language proficiency tests in the United States, with Modern Standard Arabic and several dialects among their languages: a live oral interview with a certified tester or a computer-based version, alongside tests of writing, reading and listening. Results are reported on the ACTFL scale and are required for licensing Arabic teachers in several states and in scholarship and language programmes.
2Who it suits
Arabic teachers and learners in the West, translators, and anyone who must prove their level to an American body.
3What it requires
None.
4How it is earned
Booked through ACTFL's licensed testing office directly or through a university, and taken online. Ask the requesting body which level and test format it needs.
When a centre or body posts a course that prepares for it, we send you one email about it.
