Exam or licence Languages and language tests

1What it is

A standardised test of the proficiency of non-native speakers in the four skills of Arabic (listening, reading, writing and speaking), reporting the result on the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference so that it is understood by universities and employers outside the Arab world. An academic version is held with Saudi universities. It is distinct from the Arabic Language Proficiency Test already in this directory, a national test aimed mainly at native speakers.

2Who it suits

Non-native learners of Arabic, international students applying to Arab universities, and organisations that need to measure the level of their staff or learners.

3What it requires

No prerequisite.

4How it is earned

Held in person at accredited centres in Saudi Arabia and abroad, and online with a proctor, in sessions repeated through the year and announced by the Academy.
