What it is

The recognised foundational certificate in networking: building networks, routing their traffic, securing them and diagnosing faults. It is the practical entry point to a networking career and is widely relied on in the public and private sectors.

Network technicians and engineers, and computing and telecommunications graduates.

What it requires

No formal prerequisite; some hands-on experience or lab training is recommended.

How it is earned

One comprehensive exam. Training is offered by Cisco academies in a number of universities and technical colleges, as well as by private centres.
