1What it is
The credential many Australian bodies ask of anyone translating official documents. It is granted separately for each direction, into English or out of English, and Arabic is among its languages. The test is taken online with a proctor and consists of two translations of non-specialised texts and the revision of a third translation. NAATI has other credentials too, among them Recognised Practising Translator, Certified Advanced Translator and interpreter certifications.
2Who it suits
Arabic-English translators working with Australian bodies, or wanting an international credential that tests performance and not only qualifications.
3What it requires
Meeting one of NAATI's eligibility pathways, chiefly a NAATI-endorsed translation qualification, or a higher non-endorsed qualification with proof of English; plus NAATI's standards of ethical and intercultural competency, which may require separate tests.
4How it is earned
An application in which the qualification is assessed, then an online test that can be sat from anywhere under technical conditions NAATI publishes; tests in each language are held periodically.
When a centre or body posts a course that prepares for it, we send you one email about it.
